completed THRILLER

our final thriller turned out better than expected, the use of various editing techniques indicates our understanding of how to use premiere pro but most importantly shows our understanding of the elements required to make a good thriller opening. The filming process was enjoyable and showed that we were all able to get along and put each persons ideas into the opening. Overall We and myself are very happy with our thriller outcome.

analysis of rough cut

our rough cut is very plain and it doesn't show much interest as there isn't anything added to it. It was very simple and straight forward and didn't look as if there was much to it.

Audience feedback and screening

We played our thriller opening to a few classmates in order to get some outside opinions on our product. To our surprise they gave us excellent feedback, they noticed the music choice used in our opening and how it really suited our opening and the environment. It begins slow and eery to give an intense atmosphere and for audience to ask questions, they also commented on how they liked the transition of eery music to high pitch violin build up as its suitable for the thriller opening.

Further on into the thriller they said the editing techniques were really good and this is due to us darkening the scenes to give the audience the idea that it was night time when in actual fact it wasn't. This created a more scary and intense atmosphere that was able to create suspense as its found that thrillers are scarier when set at night rather than day.

The audience spoke about the camera movements and shots that were filmed, they said the shots were good but the chase could have included a lot more intensity as it was short and didn't make much sense.

The final scene they thought was executed very well due to sound effects used and the title at the end. overall the audience was impressed with our thriller.

ROUGH CUT

Our rough cut looks very unprofessional and shows no excitement or intensity meaning that it looks very boring. this is just a put together of our scenes and the final thriller is a vast improvement and goes from a plain rough cut to a high intensity film containing lots of techniques and edits to make it interesting.

editing part 2

part 2 of editing was a lot more quicker and easier, as we had become more familiar with premiere pre we were able to locate the tools needed, how to use special effects and transitions. we all carried on to pitch in with ideas and all commented on our thoughts on what we thought could be changed and what could be added to our thriller opening.  We then got the teachers to check it over to see if they thought any improvements could be made and we also showed it to a small audience and received feedback that will be found on 'Audience Feedback'. Overall our group found the editing process fun and we were also able to gain a lot of experience and techniques that will definately be used for future.

editing part 1

It took a while for us to get comfortable with the premier pro app, once we started to recognise it more, we had one of our team members on the computer doing the editing whilst the other two would sit around them and suggest edits to do and make. we found it easier to use as the editing on and we were all able to choose edits and chip in with ideas that we were all able to agree with, we also had help from our teachers giving us suggestions and other tips on how to make our thriller better for example shortening scenes that they thought were too long or to use a certain transition to fit in with the situation of the film for example a simple jump cut or a wipe. as a whole the first part of editing we found enjoyable, and yet to complete the rest of our editing. We knew it would be the longest part which is why we have planned out specifically what we are doing and how to do it. The image shows a blank page as we spent most of our time familiarising ourselves with the premiere pro app.

second day of filming

Our second day of filming, we managed to film our other two scenes that we didn't film on the first day of filming. Day two involved us filming the first scene which was packing the bag which contained secret files and the final scene which was the chase. We managed to film these scenes easily and due to a team member being absent, we used someone else to take on the role of the mugger. We filmed using a number of camera angles including a POV shot, over the shoulder, middle shots and long shots. We all communicated well and new what we were doing and how it would be done. Our filming was done quickly which allowed us some time to get back to our class and upload the new footage to the computer.
