These following logos are known as idents in the media world. It is what represents the identity of the company and how people are able to recognise the company. They are short clips that play before the film that finish with the company name at the end of the short clip, this is so they are able to inform the viewer on what they will be watching and the company production it is from.

Over the years studio idents have changed for various reasons, mainly due to the vast change in technology which then offers the company more ways of improving their idnets. Another reason idents have changed are because of the anniversaries of the studio companies, this means they would want to come up with a special ident to mark their 25th anniversary for example. Ident transformations for anniversaries include companies like Paramount and Universal. Companies that idents have changed do to technology growth are more likely to occur with companies like working title who haven't been around for a long time.

Logos often represent the creators of the company. For example the dreamworks logo has the letters SKG to represent the owners of the company known as Spielburg, Katzenberg and Geffen.
Art for arts sake meaning that MGM produce classy films for people to watch, although this technically isn't true its what the company believed they done.
the universal logo implies that they are a company that are able to bring the world together through the art of film.
The name Dreamworks implies the company wants people to dream, think big and then bring that dream to real life.
The Warner Brothers logo suggests that they are united brothers and will always stick together and protect each other as their is a shield around the letters.
